You guys, I’ve been SO bad at posting lately! But you know, this is life and sometimes it’s busy, full of other priorities, etc. and when you have a free moment all you want to do is collapse into the couch with a chunky knit blanket and binge a Netflix show.

It snowed for the first time this fall here today in Grand Rapids and I’m embracing it as it means that Christmas is just around the corner! So yesterday during my lunch break I popped over to Hobby Lobby to fill my cart with ALL THINGS CHRISTMAS. It was my mission to find some dining table decor and after scouring ideas on Pinterest and balancing the whole “Instagram vs reality” thing of having a toddler (this means you can’t go with the 20 candlesticks surrounding by little red berries look) I found the PERFECT solution. Timelessly decorated wicker trees surrounding by pine cones.

I searched and searched for the perfect table runner to fit our custom 6.5′ long table but everything seemed to top out around 5 feet, so I made my way to checkout with intentions of an online search once I returned home. The cashiers total gave me a little sticker shock but then again, I got a handful of decor, wrapping supplies, and a few extra odds and ends needed to make our house pop this year.

Upon arriving home, I set my bags aside to get back to work (sigh) but as soon as the end of the day came, I scurried downstairs to set up my Christmas dining table scape! And I LOVE IT! It’s a great blend of timeless, trendy, festive, and *hopefully* toddler-safe (with an extra dose of supervision).

Oh and I should mention that I found a neutral tablecloth we had lying around, simply folded it a few times, and voila! The correct length table runner and at no additional cost! I also pulled out my red Christmas chargers to gussy up the plate settings. Added the checkered cloth napkins (another Hobby Lobby find), topped it with a salad plate, and boom. Christmas.

What do you think? How do you decorate your dining room? Are you in a season of balancing reality with expectations and dreams like me? I’ll keep you posted on how this all pans out once it’s up for the holiday season.

P.S. Never mind the fall decor in the background of one of the photos… we’re still in transition over here! And yes, the price tags are still on because I wanted to make sure I loved it before removing them. 🙂
